What is Lock Box?
Lock Box is a privacy feature under PHIPA (Personal Health Information Protection Act) that allows you to restrict healthcare providers from accessing your medical records. When enabled, doctors will see a restricted view of your information unless they use "Break the Glass" for emergencies (which is audited).
Important Considerations
- Enabling Lock Box may delay care in non-emergency situations
- Providers can still access records in emergencies ("Break the Glass") - all access is logged
- You can disable Lock Box at any time to restore full access
